Crisis and Industry: Lessons from the past to build the future

AlhóndigaBilbao, 29 October 2014

“Crisis and Industry: Lessons from the past to build the future”, the third conference organised by Jakiunde as part of the Krisiak 2014 project, took place on 29 October at the AlhóndigaBilbao auditorium.

Industrial crises have featured prominently the economic history of the Basque Country, but our society has known how to face them. The purpose of this conference was therefore to re-examine perennial issues with the benefit of hindsight and experience, looking back into the past to find guidelines for the future.

The conference was organised by the academic José Luis Larrea and featured various individuals who have played a key role in the transformations that our country has undergone: Jon Azua (former Vice-President of the Basque Country), Juan Ignacio Vidarte (Guggenheim), Ignacio Martín (Gamesa), Andoni Aldekoa (Bilbao City Council), María José Aranguren and Mikel Navarro (Orkestra), as well as Jakiunde academics Andrés Arizkorreta (CAF), María  Carmen Gallastegui, Pedro Miguel Etxenike, José Antonio Garrido and Javier Retegi.

The conference was sponsored by SPRI, the Basque Business Development Agency, which was created by the Basque Government, in partnership with AlhóndigaBilbao, Bilbao City Council and Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness.
